Blake Shelton Appointed to Wildlife Board

The state of Oklahoma has a new member to one of its state wildlife boards. This past week Blake Shelton was appointed to  board of the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Foundation. The foundation will fund raise for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

According to Fox News, the board is being used to help the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation raise money for conservation projects. Like most states Oklahoma’s wildlife agency doesn’t receive appropriated money from the Legislature and operates off revenue from hunting and fishing licenses and federal excise taxes on hunting and fishing equipment.

Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation spokesman Micah Holmes said it’s important for people to see hunting and fishing as mainstream and that Shelton’s status will help that mission.

Blake Shelton has been hunting and fishing his entire life and is a great fit for the job. Hunting for the most part remains out of the main stream but hopefully with this appointment he will be able to show more people what hunting is really about.
