Man Blames Wife for Poaching Violation

A Michigan man faces poaching charges after shooting a spike buck in an area with antler point restrictions. When asked by the game warden why he shot the illegal deer the man blamed his wife’s craving for deer meat.

According to the Cadillac News, Conservation Officer Josiah Killingbeck received a tip from an eye witness about a man shooting a spike buck. When he confronted the man, the man insisted that he never even shot a deer

The man offered a few excuses to what happened, but the officer was not buying it. The officer asked the man if he was finished lying and he replied, “No, I’m not.”

The officer then told him about the witness and the man decided to come clean and admitted to shooting the buck and not tagging it, but the excuse he gave is pure gold.

“The honest-to-God truth is that my wife wants deer meat and if I come home without any she’ll get really mad at me.”
