Two Men Charged For Assaulting Game Warden

I do not envy the job a game warden has to do. They are charged with enforcing the law and almost everyone they have to approach is armed. They put themselves in a dangerous situation a daily basis. Most encounters are fine, but every now and then things go south.

According to WFMZ Channel 69 News, Two males were involved in the alleged assault of a state Game Commission officer on Saturday, December 1st. The officer was responding to a complaint about a hunting violation when he encountered two men on all-terrain vehicles. A physical altercation occurred while the officer was questioning them.

Investigators say the officer discharged one round from his “duty weapon” before the suspects fled.

The men were subsequently arrested and have been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, resisting arrest, simple assault, and a few other charges.

Wade Michael Winemiller, 57, of Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, was arraigned on Monday. His bail was set at $150,000. Winemiller was unable to post bail and is being held in the Schuylkill County Prison.

Thomas Earl Kelly, 57, of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, was arraigned on Tuesday. His bail was set at $100,000, 10 percent. Bail was posted by Kelly.

The officer they assaulted was taken to the hospital for a broken nose he sustained during the attack, but was released and should be fine.
