Angler Breaks 35-Year-old State Record

Catching a state record fish is a big deal. And as far as I am concerned the older the record is the greater the accomplishment. So it was really cool to see a 35-year-old record fall and a new one take its place.

According to Delmarva Now, 34-year-old angler Jeff Wright of Maryland caught a 72.8-pound Mahi Mahi. that broke the 35-year-old record of 67.8 pounds set by Kim Lawson 35 years prior.

“It literally took 25 minutes to get this in,” Wright said in a news release from Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources. “I had to play it until it finally gave up.”

Congratulations Jeff that is one heck of a fish.
